4.7 Tesla PET-MRI

The 4.7 Tesla (200 MHz proton frequency) PET-MRI scanner consists of a 40 cm diameter horizontal bore magnet (Bruker Biospin) with a Bruker Avance Neo console and PET insert (Bruker Biospin) with ParaVision 360 operating software. The system is capable of multinuclear MR imaging, MR spectroscopy, and PET imaging of small animals (mice and rats). The scanner is equipped with 4 radio-frequency (RF) receive channels allowing for the use of phased array receive coils. Capabilities include high-quality, high resolution, anatomical and functional imaging using a wide variety of contrast mechanisms (T1, T2, diffusion, perfusion), together with multi-shot 2D and 3D sequences, single-shot EPI, Chemical Exchange Saturation Transfer (CEST) sequences, Ultrashort Echo Time (UTE) sequences, localized NMR spectroscopy and spectroscopic imaging, and simultaneous PET-MR.

Bruker PET Insert:

  • 0.7 mm resolution with Full Field Accuracy (FFA) and 12% sensitivity
  • Continuous crystals, full row and column readout, and DOI detection
  • Silicon PMT design compatible with high-field MR
  • Large FOV for whole body dynamic imaging

Gradient Coils:

  • Bruker B-GA20S HP gradient coil capable of  300 mT/m
  • Bruker B-GA12S HP gradient coil capable of 660 mT/m
  • Bruker B-GA06 gradient coil capable of 1000 mT/m
Radio-Frequency Coils:

A wide range of RF transmit/receive volume coils with different inner diameters as well as phased array and surface receive coils are available for use.
